Canada has a new Food Guide!
A new version of Canada’s Food Guide was launched February 5, 2007—one that will look very familiar to nutrition educators in British Columbia, but with a few new twists. You can download your own copy at www.healthcanada.gc.ca/foodguide.
Here are some key changes:
• More specific advice for different ages and genders is offered
• Vegetables and fruit are emphasized
• Physical activity is highlighted
• Foods from ethnically diverse cultures and cuisines are included
BC Dairy Foundation resources and programs are being revised to meet the new recommendations. All our resources are available to order and can be used with minor or major revisions to follow the new food guide.
Most of the new resources will be available in September 2007.
