Milk and Cookies - Nutrition Issues for Youth

It was standing room only at BC Dairy Foundation's fourth annual Milk and Cookies event held October 3, 2002 in Burnaby. This popular forum for health professionals focused on nutrition issues affecting youth.

  • Huguette Cloutier, a Registered Dietitian with BC Children's Hospital, started the day by exploring the increase in Type 2 diabetes among youth.

  • Registered Dietitian Jacquie Gingras captivated attendees with a lively presentation based on her paper Toxic Playground: Understanding The Environmental Influences That Increase The Risk of Childhood Weight Disturbance.

  • University of British Columbia Professor of Food, Nutrition and Health, Dr. Susan Barr presented groundbreaking research on dietary restraint and bone health.

  • Angela Scardillo from Palmer Jarvis DDB's Kid Think team ended the day with an engaging look at the best strategies for reaching youth.
